Get to know us

Culture and taste inspired by the flavors of Puerto Rico.

Hola! Welcome to A Rey of Flavors. Rey and Jackie have known each other since childhood but found love together 30 plus years later. Once reconnected, they realized that one of their common bonds was their passion for cooking. Both growing up in New York, they were surrounded by the magic of everything Boricua; the music, the dancing but most of all, the food which was passed down from generations! This birthed the beginning of A Rey of Flavors which offers authentic home-cooked meals that are meant to provide a genuine Puerto Rican experience.

Culture

The culture of Puerto Rico is a melting pot of Taíno (Native Indian), Spanish, African and other various
influences. The island itself has an abundance of history and cultural influences. Fun fact: Did you know
Puerto Rico has the longest holiday season? There are 19 official holidays on its calendar! That explains
why our culture is immersed in food, dancing, and music. Life is a celebration, and we celebrate all year
around! Wepa!!!!

Flavors

Our childhood memories are of our parents making sofrito from scratch. The smell of cilantro, garlic,
onions and peppers permeated through the house. The sound of laughter and music as the pasteles
were being made. The sound of bottles opening as we prepared our freshly made coquito. That’s why
we take pride in making sure all our ingredients are of the best quality, along with the taste of tradition in every bite.
